Bulldog Bash is Mississippi’s largest outdoor free concert, and the crowd sizes just kept growing. Faced with yet another record crowd in 2011, the MSU Student Association started researching ways to make the audience’s concert experience more immersive. Large video screens were on their list, so they turned to the TV Center to provide the content. Our senior producer worked with the association to develop sponsorship opportunities and placement designs, spec out camera positions, and developed the production documents that kept the broadcast on track. Today, the center’s support of Bulldog Bash includes two cameras at the front of house, two handheld cameras at the stage, and a 24’ jib-mounted camera for sweeping views of the audience and the performers. Video commercial insertion, graphics overlays, and premium seating area video support round all add to the event experience and provide the association with methods to recoup part of their sizeable investment in the event.
