Mississippi State University football coach Mike Leach was the embodiment of a larger-than-life personality, and his passing at the end of the 2022 season was unexpected and untimely. Honoring the bulldog coach’s life and legacy, an on-campus remembrance service drew thousands from across the country and right here at home. Accommodating both a national television audience and the in-venue mourners was beyond the capabilities of a single unit, so the Mississippi State University Department of Athletics reached out to the University Television Center to assist in the event’s unique needs. Working closely with athletics broadcast operations staff, the center provided a 24’ camera jib and operator for distinctive camera angles, while setting up an in-venue content experience designed specifically for those in attendance. Sharing camera feeds and coordinating video playout on-site between units, the center and athletics created two seamless productions to honor one remarkable man.
